Seattle on TV this Friday

1962 View from Space Needle

In May we published this interesting 1962 viewpoint of Seattle from the Space Needle. You can see the tracks for the Monorail heading toward downtown Seattle. We decided that traffic seemed rather light in those days!

Here’s a chance to learn more: There’s a PBS documentary about the fair airing this Friday at 9 p.m. on KCTS channel 9 titled, “When Seattle Invented the Future: The 1962 World’s Fair.” A number of researchers who have presented at BHS events are featured, including Paula Becker and Alan Stein of HistoryLink and most recently, Lorraine McConnaghy of MOHAI.
