You can own a piece of Ballard, and it’s not a condo or a storefront. Introducing the 2014 Ballard Historical Society calendar “Ballard Beauties.” This piece of history could grace your home for 2014, or make an affordable holiday gift.
In addition to lovely photos of Ballard residents, you can also relive some the charm we might have found as visitors to their homes, since the calendar pairs bits of period wallpaper with photographs from the Society’s archives. Historical personages include Miss Ruth Frank, crowned Miss Seattle in 1925. Miss Frank later married Ballard resident Ted Peterson, who represented Ballard as a state legislator for many years.
The calendar costs $15 and can be purchased locally at Secret Garden Bookshop (2214 NW Market St), Sunset Hill Green Market (6405 32nd Ave NW), or Swansons (9701 15th Ave NW). Sales benefit the Ballard Historical Society, which is dedicated to preserving and celebrating Ballard’s unique history. Consider becoming a member.
