Bring the Ring Back to Ballard

When you hear the Ballard bell ring during the Sunday farmer’s market on Ballard Avenue or any day, you can think of the role of the community — your community — in making it happen. In March 2011, BHS won a City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods grant to install an automated, programmable mechanism on Ballard’s old city hall bell. The bell is located in Marvin’s Garden at the corner of Ballard Avenue NW and 22nd Avenue NW. Read more about the grant application. News coverage: Ballard News-Tribune, May 12, 2011

Bertha Davis was part of the inspiration for this project, and we were saddened at her passing on May 20, 2011. Her Seattle Times obituary tells her story and influence in our Bring the Ring Back to Ballard project.
